Meet Tushi!

The support of YGB’s SHE program not only allowed me to complete my education but also changed my thought process and taught me how to live with dignity through various trainings and initiatives. I eam deeply thankful to YGB for their life-changing support.

Tushi is the daughter of a farmer and a housewife, and the youngest of four girls. Her sisters were married at very young ages, and Tushi dreaded the thought that she might follow in their footsteps. She envisioned a different path for herself, a life that would be built on a solid education that would allow her to pursue a successful career. However, the same poverty that sent her sisters to early marriages threatened to do the same to Tushi, as her parents could not afford her education. Instead of finishing high school, Tushi was pulled out of school and put to work in the fields and at home as her parents began to prepare a marriage for her.

Around this time, Tushi was introduced to a social worker from Yoga Gives Back’s NGO partner NISHTHA, who invited her to apply for the SHE Scholarship for Higher Education. Tushi was awarded the SHE, which covered her tuition fees and all of her education-related expenses. Tushi returned to school and proved herself to be a very active and dedicated student, graduating with honors in 2015. Tushi now enjoys a successful career as a private educator and can provide much-needed financial relief to her family. And, she has broken the long-enduring custom of early marriage in her family.

Please donate to YGB’s five-year scholarship for higher education (SHE Project) to help turn Tushi’s and other youths’ dreams into realities. SHE currently funds the education of 400 disadvantaged youths so that they can earn their college degrees. Just $250 per year or $20 per month can support one student to transform their life completely. Join us here http://ow.ly/tWCR50K3yXa.
