Shyamala’s journey is a powerful reminder of the transformative impact of love, acceptance, and support. Raised in poverty by a single mother, her life changed when she was brought to Deenabandhu Trust Children’s Home as a 4th grader after her mother could no longer care for her. As a young girl at the Home, Shyamala would often say, “I want to become like Professor Jayadev and serve children who come from unfortunate circumstances.”

Under the nurturing guidance she received at Deenabandhu, Shyamala flourished. Not only did she complete her schooling, but she also achieved her dream of building a self-sufficient life. With the help of the Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) from YGB, Shyamala earned a diploma in Fashion Design from the Government Tool and Training Centre (GTTC). Today, she thrives as the Operations In-Charge for Housekeeping at Mathruchaya Trust in Bangalore, serving vulnerable people—just as she had always dreamed.

Shyamala’s story is a shining example of how determination, support, and opportunity can truly transform a life. She is forever grateful to YGB and Deenabandhu Trust for helping her turn her dreams into reality.
