Yoga Without Borders

A collaborative program of Yoga Gives Back, Rainbow Kids Yoga, and Edu-GIRLS, expanding access to yoga, mindfulness, and global connection for underserved children and youth in India .

Yoga Without Borders brings yoga, mindfulness, and cross-cultural connection into underserved communities in India. Rooted in YGB’s mission of gratitude in action, the program provides access to the benefit of mind-body connection of diverse yoga practices for schools in underserved communities in India while creating meaningful human connection between young people in India and visiting teachers from the global yoga community.

First launched as a pilot at Dau Dayal Girls School in Firozabad, Yoga Without Borders is now growing through partnership—connecting more trained yoga teachers to children and youth who can benefit from access to yoga, and expanding to new sites including YGB program Deenabandhu orphanage and school in Chamarajanagar, Karnataka.

A Growing Partnership

Yoga Without Borders was developed and launched by YGB Ambassador Gopala Amir Yaffa of Rainbow Kids Yoga. Early YGB Ambassadors including Addie Gaines and Deb Porter helped bring the pilot to life and showed how meaningful this model can be for both students and visiting teachers.

Program Activities

Yoga Without Borders brings yoga, mindfulness, and wellness into underserved school and community settings in ways that are accessible, engaging, and age-appropriate.
Program activities may include:
Children’s yoga classes
Short mindfulness and breathing practices
Movement, relaxation, and self-regulation tools
Playful and trauma-informed approaches for younger children
Practices that support focus, confidence, and emotional wellbeing for older youth
Cultural exchange and relationship-building between local communities and visiting teachers
This work is not only about teaching yoga. It is also about listening, learning, and building human connection across cultures.

Program Outcomes

Yoga Without Borders is designed to support:

Greater access to yoga and mindfulness in underserved communities

Improved calm, focus, confidence, and emotional regulation for children and youth

Joyful learning experiences that support wellbeing alongside education

Simple practices and tools that can continue beyond one teacher’s visit

Deeper cultural understanding for visiting teachers and Ambassadors

Stronger connection between YGB’s global community and the children, youth, and families we serve in India

Bringing Together the strengths of each partner:

Yoga Gives Back

Connects the program to its mission of gratitude in action and to its global Ambassador community.

Rainbow Kids Yoga

Brings expertise in children’s yoga, teacher training, and program support.

Edu-GIRLS

Brings deep local partnership and educational access for underserved students through its school community.

YGB Ambassador Opportunity

Yoga Without Borders also creates a meaningful opportunity for YGB Ambassadors and trained teachers to serve in India in a deeper way.
Teachers typically commit 1–2 months, with a minimum one-month placement, allowing enough time to build continuity, trust, and real connection. Ambassadors are not only teaching yoga and mindfulness—they also have the precious opportunity to learn from the children and youth they meet: their daily lives, their goals, their families, and the realities they navigate.
Teachers and Ambassadors receive support through Rainbow Kids Yoga, including:

Preparation Zoom calls

Class-planning support

Ongoing guidance before and during placement

Accommodation and meals

Airport pickup and drop-off
