Rekha and her mother, West Bengal (2013)
“This is my dream job – being able to provide a good education to these deserving children. I am now building my independent and happy life thanks to my education. I want to help these young children to reach to their dreams in their lives.”
~ Rekha Naskar
The new year is almost here, and at Yoga Gives Back, we’re gearing up for an action-packed 2025. But before the ball drops, we’re also taking a moment to reflect on the impact we’ve made together these past 12 months. You have sparked an eternal “Circulation of Gratitude” in this world.
Take for example: In 2013, we visited Rekha Naskar, one of the first 50 SHE (Scholarship for Higher Education) recipients in an underserved village, south of Kolkata, West Bengal. Rekha’s family was struggling with poverty, and at just fifteen she was on the verge of being married off when YGB’s SHE scholarship changed the course of her life. Ten years later, this January, we had the opportunity to visit Rekha, who is now a teacher at a night shelter for 30 children from lower-caste background in the red-light district. These children are unable to attend regular school during the day due to societal stigma. Earning her Bachelor’s degree was a turning point for Rekha. She looked very happy and shared, “This is my dream job – being able to provide a good education to these deserving children. I am now building my independent and happy life thanks to my education. I want to help these young children to reach to their dreams in their lives.”
After 17 years, YGB’s programs continue to prove that we are making a profound generational impact in India while enriching our owns lives by assisting others, practicing Karma Yoga. Thanks to your generous support, we have also been able to uplift more than 3,000 women and children in India this year.
Thank you for being a part of the Yoga Gives Back community. We wanted to let you know about one more opportunity to make an impact on the lives of others.
In the spirit of this holiday season, we have set our year-end campaign goal to raise $25,000. With this, your donation will enable YGB to provide:
- 500 disadvantaged youths with a scholarship for higher education
- 550 mothers with micro-loans and Pad Project
- 600 children with caring homes and a good education
- 800 students and teachers at remote and underserved government schools with Science and Math resources.
Here are a few easy ways to send your donation:
– Through our website
– PayPal (info@yogagivesback.org) or Venmo (yogagivesback)
You are continuing to spark our CIRCULATION OF GRATITUDE into the New Year!
