“I feel tremendously honored to be part of Yoga Gives Back. Over the years, I have gained so much by my travels to India. It has given me the gift of a practice that has served me so well over the past 25 years. I am also acutely aware of my privilege and I do not take for granted how lucky I am to have benefitted so greatly from my experiences in India. As the Dalai Lama says, “we must recognize that the suffering of one person is the suffering of humanity.” We all have an opportunity and an obligation to “give back.” I am happy to invest my time and energy into supporting an organization that affirms and builds up one of the greatest resources in India, its women.”
Christine has been a practitioner and teacher of the Ashtanga Yoga System for over 25 years. From 1997–2014 she served as the founder and director of Vermont’s only dedicated Ashtanga studio, Bristol Yoga. Her love of surfing then brought her to Montauk, NY where she has created a new practice space and yoga community, Ashtanga Montauk. Specializing in the integration of the Ashtanga system of asana with the principles of Ayurveda and the depth of Yogic philosophy, Christine offers students unique insights into discovering greater joy, freedom, and self-transformation. She has made many trips to Mysore, South India to study with the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and the Jois family and is honored to have received his blessing and authorization to teach the Ashtanga Yoga system. She is a direct student of Pandit Rajmani Tigunait and is a Certified Ayurvedic practitioner through the Kripalu College of Ayurveda.
