“I have a huge calling to go to India and it’s really been resonating more and more and coming up more and more lately. I’ve worked with girls volunteering in New York City and with students who come from high needs areas leading trauma-based yoga and social emotional wellness with them.”

Alana Dauter discovered the transformative power of yoga while pursuing her MFA in Acting in 2006. Her journey into breath and body work for actors deepened her understanding of movement and mindfulness. By 2008, she was practicing yoga in New York City at renowned studios like Yoga to the People and Jivamukti, where she found a vibrant community that fueled her passion for movement and expression.  In 2010, the birth of her daughter, Lucy, inspired a new chapter in Alana’s life, leading her to learn a Master’s degree in Education and Special Education.

After moving back to Detroit in 2020, she discovered a supportive community of yoga teachers and began to deepen her practice with a focus on Primordial and Trauma Informed Yoga. This journey culminated in 2023 when she completed her first 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at Detroit Yoga Lab. In 2025, she expanded her expertise by obtaining her next certification in mindfulness, SEL and yoga from Breathe for Change, with a focus on educator wellness.

Today, she continues to teach in the Oak Park Public school district as well as leads yoga classes, womens circle’s and wellness workshops. Alana’s classes incorporate intention setting, breath work, movement, yoga, somatic dance, nervous system regulation and manifestation providing a holistic approach that fosters personal growth and emotional well-being for all humans.  Alana is passionate about being part of an organization in which our change-makers are working to make the world a better place.
