Since joining YGB as a Global Ambassador in 2022, Erika Hawks has been a driving force in supporting our mission. Through her Key West Yoga Sanctuary, she has hosted a series of successful fundraising events and even became an Empowerment Sponsor for YGB’s annual campaign, Global Gathering for India, with the generous support of her community. We are deeply grateful to Erika for embracing our cause and expanding YGB’s reach through meaningful events and community outreach.
Erika recently shared her thoughts on the motivation and process behind hosting fundraising events for YGB:
“One simply cannot return from the YGB Seva Trip to India and drop back into business as usual. It was a life-changing experience — one that I’m still working to process and integrate into my daily life. What I knew immediately, though, was that I wanted to do more to support YGB’s incredible work — and a big part of that is sharing the stories.”
“After returning home, I realized that everyone in my community had questions about the work we were doing in India. I kept answering the same questions over and over, which made me realize that I had so many beautiful stories to share. Suddenly, it occurred to me that I needed to package my response — to document the experience and present it to everyone at once.”
“This inspired Erika’s Chat and Chai event, which took place on March 1st. “I was so excited to share the inspiring stories of the people we met and the incredible impact YGB has on the communities it serves. Lots of love!!!”
