Spotlight on YGB Global Ambassador Sally Parkes

You are currently viewing Spotlight on YGB Global Ambassador Sally Parkes

Based in West Sussex, UK, Sally has been prolific in sharing her plentiful knowledge and wisdom on behalf of Yoga Gives Back’s mission to uplift the lives of thousands of women and children in India.  Since joining YGB as an Ambassador in 2023, Sally has offered numerous events that enrich yoga communities locally and around the world to YGB’s global audience.  We are deeply appreciative of her embracing our mission, with events such as collaborating with esteemed teacher Tara Mitra and renowned pianist Jonathan Ferrucci for an evening of chanting, meditation and classical music.  Last summer, Sally launched Sally’s Yoga Club – an online community that offers on-demand classes specialising in yoga, Pilates and strength work to enhance and optimise all stages of a women’s life – in which a donation is made to Yoga Gives Back with every sale.

Here is some insight from Sally on offering successful events that benefit everyone involved:

“As a new YGB Ambassador, Kayoko had encouraged me to run some fundraising in-person events but as my online yoga teacher training community had grown through the pandemic and was too far reaching to make in-person events work.

However, post pandemic I had many classes recorded that aside from being used on social media, were not being utilised fully. So we popped them on to the platform Offering Tree with a view to offer it as a paid platform. I was keen to keep the fee low to make it accessible so we only charge £5 (plus VAT) a month and 20% is given to YGB as the remainder goes on running costs.

With under 100 subscribers the platform, Sally’s Yoga Club, is still very much in it’s infancy, but we are filming new content each week with the theme of women’s health at the core of these. Additional I gave a donation based online workshop in 2024 on how to sequence a yoga class for women experiencing menopause. This raised almost $1000 for YGB and helped to build my women’s health focused yoga teacher school that I run also.

Our next steps are to invite guest teachers with knowledge on women’s health to give classes and talks on a karma yoga. I am really looking forward to building the community further in this way.”

YGB’s beneficiary communities rely on the active energy of our Ambassadors to maintain current programs and launch new ones.  We truly couldn’t do what we do without our Ambassadors.  Please reach out to Juliet@yogagivesback if you would like to join us in giving back to the Motherland of yoga!
