“In today’s digital world, access to the internet is essential for basic services such as education, healthcare, and job applications. By distributing Chromebooks, New Learning Foundation wants to enable children to attend online classes, bridge the digital divide, and improve literacy and skill development. Adults can use the devices to access government schemes, health information, job portals, and online banking, empowering them to become economically self-reliant. Additionally, community centers equipped with Chromebooks can serve as hubs for digital literacy training, helping residents acquire technical skills that improve their employability. By facilitating access to digital tools, New Learning Foundation wants to break the cycle of poverty and create new opportunities for growth.
We have found Yoga Gives Back and Nishta to be amazing partners who starting with a small pilot project of a few chromebooks 18 months ago, have made a significant impact in their community and given the girls supported by Nishta both confidence and an ability to support the people around them.”
Amit Pamecha – Founder of New Learning Foundation
We love our community and their extraordinary efforts to create a new era for girls!
Over the last 17 years, we have supported thousands of mothers and children in India. Our programs aim to advance women’s rights and interrupt the cycle of poverty by providing mothers with micro-loans for businesses and children with access to basic education and scholarships for higher education.
The New Learning Foundation’s $10,000 donation will expand the Girls Digital Literacy Program in rural West Bengal, India, by distributing Chromebooks, digital skills training, and English tutoring for YGB’s scholarship girls. We are grateful to the New Learning Foundation and our incredible supporters, who helped us raise $10,000 in matching funds. This funding will accelerate our Computer Literacy Project, which started during the pandemic in 2022. YGB and NGO Partner NISHTHA launched a computer center with only five computers, critical electricity, an internet connection, and a professional computer training staff in a safe, accessible, and centrally-located structure. The New Learning Foundation wants to break the cycle of poverty and create new opportunities for growth by facilitating access to digital tools.
YGB’s founder, Kayoko Mitsumatsu, emphasizes the transformative potential of digital education in leveling the playing field for these girls, who also face risks such as child marriage and trafficking. The program has equipped them with essential skills and instilled a sense of empowerment and hope for a better future.
Thank you, Amit and The New Learning Foundation, for your support. Thank you to everyone who donated to this campaign in November, which made this matching fund possible. Together, we are truly making a difference!
