Now more than ever, I feel so blessed to have my yoga practice to ground myself daily—a blessing I’m sure many of you share.
While many of us are blessed to have online classes or home practices, many women and children struggle for their lives in India.
The situation is lopsided, more than ever.
On Tuesday, May 5, the whole world will unite for #GivingTuesdayNow—a wonderful global day of giving in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We at Yoga Gives Back want to engage global yoga communities to show our continued support for women and children badly affected by this pandemic. Our goal is to raise $10,000.
India’s nationwide lock down has caused the 500 underserved mothers of YGB’s micro loans programs in rural villages of West Bengal to lose their job and daily income. Many of the 700 young girls under YGB’s education programs are facing their family’s financial pressure to drop school and get married.
Nearly all 1400 YGB fund recipients are now living on government rationing of food for daily survival.
Despite these enormous challenges, they’re determined to regain strength and resume their path to reach their dream.
We are all in this together.
Let’s come together for #GivingTuesdayNow to give back to Mother India, especially if your yoga practice sustains your life at this difficult time.
