Yoga Without Borders: Why I Said Yes to Being a Yoga Gives Back Ambassador

Yoga taught me that inner peace can ripple out into the world. As a Yoga Gives Back Ambassador and founder of Rainbow Kids Yoga, I’m committed to bringing those ripples to people all around the world, and now especially to girls in India—one classroom, one breath, one smile at a time.

In 1994, when I was a young monk at a yoga ashram, I met an American yoga teacher who was on her way to work with Jordan’s royal family. Soon after, Jordan and Israel signed a historic peace treaty. I don’t claim yoga caused that moment (maybe it did), but it forever imprinted something on my heart: inner peace changes outer reality. What starts with one breath can shift the way people listen, care, and choose.

A decade later I founded Rainbow Kids Yoga with one rebellious idea: yoga isn’t only about mastering yourself—it’s also about meeting each other. We turned practice into play, isolation into connection, and mats into community. Over the years, I’ve watched shy kids find their voice, anxious teens discover regulation, and families remember how to laugh together. The magic isn’t in the poses—it’s in belonging.

That’s why I said yes to becoming a Yoga Gives Back (YGB) Ambassador. YGB invests in women’s and children’s futures across India, turning generosity into opportunities that last. Together with Edu-GIRLS, we launched Yoga Without Borders, a volunteer program now serving the Dau Dayal School in Agra (near the Taj Mahal). Our teachers deliver there daily yoga classes that build confidence, strength, and joy.

The girls we will serve there are bright, curious, and full of potential. Some carry heavy stories. We don’t arrive with “fixes”; we arrive with listeningdignity, and skills they can own. We co-teach with local staff, respect language and culture, and focus on practices that are safe, inclusive, and easy to sustain.

“I believe every child deserves a toolkit for resilience: a way to steady their breath, soften their jaw, feel their feet, share a smile, and remember they matter. If those tools help one girl sleep better, study better, or dream bigger—then the world already shifted.”

Inner peace to world peace is not a slogan. It’s a practice. Thank you, YGB, for believing that compassion is practical—and for letting me be one small current in this greater river of change.
