About

YGB’s Annual Gala is the flagship event of our global fundraising campaign #OneMillionYogis, engaging one million yogis to take part in any way to give back for the gift of yoga we have received. It is a special and intimate gathering of YGB supporters and yoga community influencers to celebrate the year’s accomplishment with a dinner, live entertainment, silent and live auction. All proceeds benefit YGB’s global campaign and programs in India, supporting nearly 1300 mothers, youths and children with micro loans and education funds this year. This annual celebration is generously hosted again by YogaGlo.

The YGB Namaste Award

The YGB Namaste Award is a tribute to a visionary who has inspired the global yoga community with his dedication to practice and tradition. In addition, this individual has committed himself to humanitarian causes to make this world a better place. We are proud to honor Premal Shah as the recipient of the 2018 YGB Namaste Award.

Premal Shah

Premal Shah, who joined YGB’s Advisory Board in its first year, helps lead Kiva.org, a prominent crowdfunding website that connects people through lending to alleviate poverty. Since 2005, over $1B in philanthropic loans have been crowdfunded to millions of underserved entrepreneurs in 90 countries – with a 96% repayment rate. The site have been named as one of Oprah’s Favorite Things and a Top 50 Website by TIME magazine. Premal’s inspiration came while volunteering in India while on leave from PayPal, where he had been an early employee. Premal began his career as a management consultant and graduated from Stanford University. He’s passionate about making it easier for anyone to discover their own power to make real impact. He serves on the Board of tech driven non-profits VolunteerMatch.org, Watsi.org & Change.org Foundation. For his work as a social entrepreneur, Premal was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and selected to FORTUNE magazine’s “Top 40 under 40” list.
