Together, we raised $61,000 (including pledge donations) during the Global Gala Weekend 2024! The love and warmth of our community filled every corner of the room during the GALA evening.
Event highlights include:
- Namaste Award presented to Belinda Carlisle, Co-founder Animal People Alliance. Donna De Lory received this honor on behalf of Belinda and performed her beautiful music.
- Ambassador for the Year awards presented to Donna De Lory, Erika Hawks, Michiko Minegishi, and Sophie Slater.

To all the leaders who led an epic series of workshops and retreats during the Gala weekend, we express our deepest gratitude. These special sessions underscored that yoga is not just asana or physical exercises. We aim high to reach to our highest self by learning, practicing and acting upon YOGA.
- “A Woman’s Gita” – A live workshop with Nischala Joy Devi and Kamala Rose at Loyola Marymount University.
- “Heart Centered Yoga & Meditation” with aroma, asana, and breath work led by Kiyomi Takahashi, Go Sato and Mayumi Fujita, at Mondrian Hotel “Skybar” Roof Top, Hollywood.
- “LA RETREAT” at shefayoga Venice. Classical dance, asana, chanting, pranayama, meditation, sound bath, and yoga nidra led by Ashley Rideaux, Beate Scholz, Birgitte Kristen, Deepa Chemery, Jeanne Heileman, Jocelyn Solomon, Leah Zaccaria, and Lauren Peterson.
This year we raised over $60,000 through our generous supporters, attendees, sponsors, and volunteers!
2024 YGB Namaste Awarded to Belinda Carlisle
The YGB Namaste Award is a tribute to visionaries who inspire the global yoga community and beyond with their vision. In addition, these individual have committed themselves to humanitarian causes to make this world a better place. We are truly proud to honor Belinda Carlisle as the recipient of the 2024 YGB Namaste Award, for her advocacy for animal welfare and human rights as a co-founder of Animal People Alliance, whose mission is to provide high quality and compassionate care, of the highest standards, to neglected street animals in India and Thailand. They also try and employ vulnerable people from the community, and pay living wages that help them improve their standard of living.
