Margi roots her yoga classes in Buddhist philosophy/meditation and in The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, so that the physical practice manifests in a calm and spacious mental state – both for the sake of the practitioner and their community.Taking a cue from the Buddha, Margi’s classes are lighthearted as she believes it is imperative that we come together and study this vast subject with joy.
Margi holds a BA from Mills College in Oakland, California and an MFA from New York University in dance and choreography where she graduated with the Seidman award for excellence. When in 2001 she attended yoga teacher training at Cyndi Lee’s OM Yoga Center in New York City, she was certain that a life immersed in yoga was right for her. For 10+ years Margi taught at OM before moving home to San Francisco where she now teaches classes, workshops and trainings in the Bay Area.
“I support Yoga Gives Back, because yoga has been my life and I am forever grateful for its roots in India. I appreciate the integrity and depth of the organization, and am happy to be a part of an organization that is giving back and supporting women and children, as the need is great and most of the yoga practitioners in the United States could help so many people in India for the price of a pair of yoga pants!”
