About

Yoga Gives Back's “Thank You Mother India” Fundraiser is the flagship event of our global campaign. It is a special evening for the Los Angeles yoga community and beyond to celebrate the year's accomplishments and recognize the impact of our volunteers, donors and influencers. Hosted by YogaGlo at it’s new beautiful and airy studio space in Santa Monica, this special event will feature the presentation of the YGB’s humanitarian Namaste Award to singer, actress, advocate Alanis Morissette. The evening will include cocktail reception, sit down dinner, live entertainment and silent/live auction for attendees.

The YGB Namaste Award

The YGB Namaste Award is a tribute to a visionary who has inspired the global yoga community with her dedication to practice and tradition. In addition, this individual has committed herself to humanitarian causes to make this world a better place. We are proud to honor Alanis Morissette as the recipient of the 2017 YGB Namaste Award.

Alanis Morissette

Ms. Morissette is most well-known for her autobiographical songwriting and passionate performances, as well as her evocative and engaging articles, interviews, and public speaking. She emerged internationally in 1995 with the release of her album, Jagged Little Pill and has gone on to become one of the premiere singer-songwriter-musicians in contemporary music. Her deeply expressive, personal music and performances have earned the seven-time Grammy Award winner vast critical praise, a multitude of international awards and a dedicated fan base that extends throughout the world. Ms. Morissette is also an actor who has performed in several films, television shows and in the theatre. A dedicated charitable activist, she has supported numerous causes that focus on empowerment, art, psychological and spiritual healing, relationships and environmental causes, earning her a Global Tolerance Award from the United Nations. Ms. Morissette is a teacher, friend, artist, wife, mother, comedienne, activist, spiritual leader and voice for her generation. She is married to Souleye and together they have two children.
